Online lender LendingClub announced March 3 that an association it co-founded, the Marketplace Lending Association, was joining with the Online Lending Policy Institute to form the new organization. AFC members include leading technology companies that offer a range of financial products for consumers and businesses.
"The creation of the AFC is a natural progression and allows our association to bring in even more fintech companies, banks and other financial providers across the industry that are committed to the responsible standards we've put in place," Armen Meyer, vice president of public policy at LendingClub, said in a statement.
On Monday, AFC announced the addition of 10 new members on its website, bringing its total membership to more than 50 companies. The group has also created a community advisory board "to further its mission in promoting policies that advance responsible innovation and inclusivity within financial services."
AFC is currently searching for an executive director.
